NIC or Driver Not Ready.  Ralink won't display networks.
Hi folks. I recently bought a Turbotenna usb adapter. It has Ralink software. I opted to use the Ralink site survey that works in conjunction with Windows. It worked perfectly for a week...until I made a mistake I don't know how to reverse. While I can still log on to networks, I can't log on to networks with Ralink any longer. No networks will display. It just says, "NIC or driver not ready". Why? Because I uninstalled Ralink and decided to see what using only Windows site survey would feel like. So after uninstalling, I just plugged the usb antenna in and Windows found the drivers and it worked fine. Then I reinstalled the Ralink software and when asked which site survey I wanted I chose "use WZC as configuration utility". After a few hours I decided that I definitely will settle on Ralink's site survey. Fat chance. Windows will not relinquish control at all. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Ralink 3 times and their site survey will not come up. Actually, the options that were there originally when I right click on the Ralink icon are not all there. Just the 2 options of use Ralink or use WZC. Obviously, "use Ralink" doesn't work. How do I get Windows to play nicely with Ralink like it did when I first installed it. What is causing Windows to not allow Ralink's site survey to come up anymore. Please advise.

Hi, We may try to restore to the initial situation. Let us try the following steps. 1. Uninstall Ralink software and the driver of the Turbotenna USB adapter. 2. Remove all USB Controller. First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps: Click "Start" button, type devmgmt.msc (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press "Enter". Click Continue if necessary. In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK". Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically. Now, please install Ralink software and check if the issue persists.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support

Thank you so much for replying. I appreciate it. Because of the heat, there have been outages here where I live. I will try your fix asap and report back the results. Again, thank you for giving me hope for a fix.

Hello again. I have tried your fix. Unfortunately, it did not work. Something in Windows is still blocking Ralink from performing the way it originally did. It still will not display any networks. Please advise me further. I await your response.
